Industrial Licensing Division

Whether assembling appliances, automobiles, pleasure boats or electronic components, Phillips offers industry’s broadest spectrum of proprietary, high-performance drive systems that meet the challenging demands of today's production lines. Specifying a Phillips drive system assures the dimensional integrity of all system components, including both the threaded fastener recess and driver bit, wherever sourced, through a global monitored network of Phillips licensees.

STANDARD INDUSTRIAL DRIVE SYSTEMS

PHILLIPS II® - was introduced to industry and more recently to professional trades, in order to supersede generic Phillips as the cruciform drive system of choice for routine power tool applications.  This anti-cam-out (ACR®) enhanced cruciform drive system delivers exceptional torque at very low end-load with virtually no cam-out even during off-angle driving, thereby significantly extending driver tool life and preventing fastener recess damage.

POZIDRIV® – for over forty years has been the most popular cruciform drive system in Canada and the European Union for both industry and the professional trades.  It is a metric dimensioned drive system, that has recently been enhanced with ACR technology in North America, in order to take full advantage of the higher torque capability of today's power tools.

PHILLIPS SQUARE-DRIV® - a combination drive system (both Phillips II and S quare) with ACR technology has been developed to drive larger threaded fasteners into difficult materials and to provide sufficient torque for the new generation of thread-forming fasteners.  This drive system consistently performs without cam-out in significantly higher torque applications, not appropriate for the Phillips II or Pozidriv systems, and provides non-magnetic stick-fit of fastener and driver bit, thereby facilitating overall clamping efficiency under difficult assembly conditions.  This advanced cruciform system also offers the flexibility of multi-driver bit compatibility with Phillips Square-Driv, Phillips II, Pozidriv, square and generic Phillips drivers for products that require field service options, both domestic and international.

Each of the above Phillips cruciform drive systems incorporates distinguishing head-marking on the fasteners that differentiates the drive system in order to easily identify the appropriate mating driver.

MORTORQ® SUPER - the industrial drive system for the 21st Century ~ a revolutionary new concept for both recessed and external-wrenched fastener drive systems.  The geometric spiral design maximizes recess wall and driver contact that produces an array of cost-effective assembly benefits:

  • Extreme high torque transfer without cam-out
  • A shallow recess with lower head profile that reduces fastener weight
  • Optional engagement ramps in the recess facilitate rotating driver bit engagement and reduced driver bit wear
  • Exceptional bit strength for extreme torque applications
  • Cosmetically pleasing design, that is as impressive as it looks.

TRI-WING® - this three wing, higher torquing fastener drive system was originally introduced four decades ago to the aerospace industry for structural assembly on wide-body aircraft.  In recent years, it has become a favorite for many security applications requiring exceptional torque. Its recess can also be ACR enhanced.

Custom Industrial Drive Systems

Because of its unique niche in the fastener industry, Phillips and its licensees have worked with various industries and companies in the design of custom drive systems to solve not-your-everyday fastening problems.  Such problems have carried Phillips to cutting-edge drive system technology in such fields as micro-electronics, orthopedic surgery, field maintenance in outer space, and security for automotive safety and automated financial devices.

Whatever your fastening problem, Phillips engineers may already have a solution or will undertake to find one for you.
